Cranks transfer power directly to the rear wheel – and have to withstand a lot during jumps and grinds. Most BMX cranks are 3-piece (two crank arms + axle), less commonly 2-piece. Differences exist in length, axle diameter (19, 22, or 24 mm), material, and connection type (e.g., 48-spline or 8-spline). Longer cranks (170–175 mm) provide more leverage, while shorter ones (165 mm) increase ground clearance – especially important for street setups with pegs. All models in this category are designed for mid BBs and are typically made of heat-treated 4130 chromoly steel – for maximum durability at a low weight.
